Tibetan Bread

Like most of the Tibetan dishes, this bread recipe is basic, simple and quick to prepare. Just make a very basic dough, roll into a flat circle and deep-fry it.

You can serve the bread with honey or some jam for breakfast, or along the garlic soup.

1 Kg (2 lbs 3 oz) plain flour

2 cups of milk

1 tbsp. sugar

1 tsp. salt

canola oil for frying

In a bowl mix all the dry ingredients.

Gradually add the milk, while mixing by hand

Knead by hand until you get firm dough.

Cover the bowl with air-tight plastic and let rest for 10 minutes.

Divide the dough into 10 parts and roll each one into a flat round circle of about 15 cm (6") diameter.

Cut two-three parallel lines inside each circle.

Preheat a frying pan with oil (about 2 cm deep) on medium heat.

Fry on both sides until golden brown (10-15 seconds on each side).

Put on a paper towel to absorb the oil.

Serve hot.
