Saag
Saag is another addition to dal bhat meal. Saag is actually a spinach curry. In general dal bhat meal is not complete without some dish of green vegetables. Saag is a good source of iron for the perfectly balanced dal bhat meal. It is very easy to prepare too.

300g (10.5 oz) fresh spinach
4 cloves garlic
3 tbsps. ghee
1 tsp. cumin seeds
1/2 tsp. white pepper
1/2 tsp. curry powder
salt

Chop the spinach roughly, chop the garlic thinly.
Heat the ghee in a wok or a frying pan over medium-high heat.
Add the cumin seeds and toast for half a minute.
Add the garlic and sauté half a minute more.
Add the spinach and sprinkle with a pinch of sault. Sauté until most of the water, released by spinach has evaporated.
Add the rest of the spices, sauté 2 mins. more and remove from heat.
