Brigadeiro

Brigadeiro is kind of a bonbon made of chocolate and condensed milk, sometimes called Brazilian truffle.  It is one of the most popular sweets in Brazil, especially at parties. Brigadeiro is quite easy to prepare. Originally it is rolled in chocolate sprinkles, which give it some crunchiness, but you can feel free to experiment with other coatings like cocoa powder, coconut flakes, biscuit crumbs etc.

2 tbsps. butter

1 can sweetened condensed milk

3 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa

chocolate sprinkles for rolling or coconut flakes or biscuit crumbs

Preparation time: 45 mins

Difficulty level: Medium

Servings: 20-25

Ingredients

Preparation

Melt the butter in a medium sauce pan over medium heat. Add the condensed milk and the cocoa. Cook, constantly stirring, until the mixture thickens (about 10-15 minutes) and you can see quite a bit of the bottom of the pan. Remove from heat and transfer to a dish. Let it cool to room temperature (you can put it in the fridge for a while)..

Grease your hands with butter. Take about 1 tsp. of mixture each time and roll into a ball. Roll the ball over chocolate sprinkles or whatever coating you prefer and place them on small size paper cups. Serve at room temperature or refrigerated.
