Feijoada Completa

Feijoada is considered the national dish of Brazil. The name comes from feijão, which is the Portuguese for "beans". Feijoada is a stew made  of black beans and several types of meat and sausages. It is usually cooked slowly and served in a clay pot. Feijoada is traditionally served in many restaurants on Wednesdays and Saturdays along with some accompanying dishes, making it Feijoada completa. Since it is quite a heavy dish, it is often consumed for lunch during midday. Many Brazilians believe that feijoada isn't complete without batida - cocktail of fruit and cachaça.

The following menu of Feijoada completa contains the most common dishes served along the main dish. You can find this menu in many restaurants in Brazil. This meal is easy to prepare. All the side dishes can be prepared, while feijoada is cooking slowly. Just don't forget to soak the beans in water overnight.
